Rice Grains

Yesterday was my last visa run to Cambodia. It was a bit sad, though I really didn't have much time to think about it, since I had a seatmate with whom I talked most of the ride. We had some really interesting discussion about the reality of God and His love for us. I'm praying God uses our conversation to accomplish His purposes.

At the border, I met all my little friends who love to ask for money. I had come prepared with a fair amount of loose change, but I quickly saw there was no way to divide the money fairly. These children had no interest in staying in a line and coming only once.:)

Finally, one boy said I should throw the money in the air and let them run after it. I thought that was a good idea and promptly did just that. But I still had some change in my little purse reserved for the children on the Thailand side.

It was raining a bit when I crossed back to the Thailand side, and I had left my umbrella in the bus. I thought I would simply get a little wet as I headed for the restrooms. It didn't take long, however, for a young girl to approach me with her shabby little umbrella, and she shared that little umbrella with me as I walked. I had to duck a bit to stay under it, but no big deal.:)

About 3 or 4 other children ran over to accompany us on our journey to the restroom. They waited till I came back out, and then I shared the little bit of money I had left. One little guy didn't get any, but the others insisted he had got more than his share earlier, and he didn't deny it.:) He seemed to brighten up when I asked to take a picture with them. Here we are!:)

They then walked me back to the bus, and I boarded amidst a chorus of goodbyes. They're such cute kids. What does the future hold for them...??
